I was pressed, says robbery suspect that defecated in would-be victims’ house

A robbery suspect, identified as Michael, who was apprehended by residents when he was abandoned by his gang members during an operation, said he was in the compound to defecate, as he was badly pressed.

He was arrested on Wednesday at 1:43a.m. in Sapele, Delta State, and beaten to a pulp after he defecated in the victim’s residence to deceive the Police.

The suspect was said to have defecated while trying to prove innocence.

According to an eyewitness, Ms Ese Omoniaga, “on Tuesday, a gang of robbers attacked residents of a house along Kingsley Esiso Road in Sapele. They were about breaking in, when occupants of the house raised the alarm.

“Sensing the attention the alarm might attract, the other gang members took to their heels, leaving Michael behind, and he was promptly apprehended.

“However, upon interrogation, he claimed they were pressed. So they decided to scale the fence into the compound to defecate. He said after scaling the fence, they decided to use the opportunity to steal.”

The source, who claimed to be living close to the attacked residents, said the Police were invited and Michael locked up in a balcony, until the officers arrived.

The witness said: “That was when he (Michael) defecated at the balcony, before the Police arrived. The crowd was so angered by the action and beat the thief to a pulp. The Police was said to have rescued him.”

A source at Sapele Police Station confirmed the story, saying “he is in our custody, and we are doing everything to get to the root of this.”
