22 students, teacher die in Kano auto crash







A teacher and 22 students from Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State on an excursion died, in an auto crash at Gaya, 65 kilometres south of Kano.

An eyewitness disclosed that the 18-seater bus conveying the students and some staff on excursion to a radio station in Kano , had a head-on collision with an articulated vehicle carrying tomatoes.

The witness explained that both vehicles were trying to avoid a pothole at Samia Uku village, by Dudduru Forest, near Maitama Sule College.

He said both vehicles were on top speed, adding “we counted 23 dead bodies and several others that escaped with injury were taken to Gaya Hospital.”

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano Police Command, Deputy Superintendent Musa Majia said “22 people died in the accident.”
