The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC , Suleiman Kazaure, has warned corps members against engaging in night parties in their areas of posting.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the NYSC Director-General gave the warning on when he visited the Ekiti.State Orientation Camp in Ise/Orun/Emure-Ekiti.
Kazaure also warned Corps members against involvement in sharp practices like Advanced Fee Fraud also known as “419” and Internet scam otherwise known as “Yahoo-yahoo”.
Female corps members were further warned against indecent dressing which may put them at risk. The NYSC DG further enjoined corps members to respect the culture of their host communities and shun
unauthorized journeys.
He advised corps members to key into the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) policy of the agency.
According to him, the SAED programme was put in place to empower corps members to be job creators rather than job seekers.
Similarly, at the while addressing NYSC 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Corps Members at the Imo State Orientation Camp, Eziama Obiere during his 2017 Batch B camp tour, the NYSC DG urged every Corps Member to
embark on a developmental project that would improve the standard of living of their host communities.
Kazaure called on corps members to leave indelible footprints in their host communities by providing socio-infrastructural facilities that would ameliorate the sufferings of their host communities, stressing that the community development service (CDS) is one of the four cardinal programmes of the National Youth Service Corps.
The DG said NYSC Scheme would continue to provide adequate security for all Corps Members, but warned that they must be security conscious at all time.
“You are expected to initiate a project that would add value to your host community, we are also in touch with all security agencies for your protection”, Kazaure said.
He also admonished them to acquire skills in order to become employers of labor after the service year.
Kazaure further advised the Corps Members to avoid “get-rich-quick-
syndrome” but embrace the dignity of labor through hard work.
“We must believe in the unity of the country, united we stand, divided we fall. Avoid shortcuts to success and the sky will be your limit,” he said.
