YOUTH CORP MEMBER WHO BUILT A SCHOOL IN HIS PLACE OF PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT WITHIN 3MONTHS

MAKING A DIFFERENCE AS A YOUTH CORPER IN NIGERIA – Abiloro Oluwasogo Olanrewaju’s story Every Nigerian Youth has the opportunity to serve their country and make a difference in so, Abiloro Oluwasogo Olarewaju an Ex-Corper who hails from Oba-Akoko in Akoko South West
LG Area of Ondo State made a difference, when he was deployed to Ebonyi State 27th October 2015 for a year National Service
(NYSC).


He wanted to stand out and make an impact from the day he reported to Old Mac Gregor Orientation Campground on the 26th October 2015.

Despite challenges of distance and being in a new environment the Corper ‘Abiloro Oluwasogo’ who set out with a mission was effective in all activities on camp like he should.

He was trained with banner party and later became the platoon leader during the camp orientation.

After spending 20 days at the orientation camp, Oluwasogo was posted to his place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in Ameka-Ikwo, Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State.

During his PPA he worked hard and earned himself a merit from the government with the ‘Ebonyi State Honors Award’.

In his effort to develop the community he served in, Oluwasogo dedicated his time contributing to the youths; he established a community owned secondary School in
Ameka-Ikwo.

The Community had no access to Secondary school education for its youths and the government did not provide an alternative for students to further their education.

Oluwasogo took up the challenge, he also donated exercise books to Primary schools in Ameka-Ikwo to help improve literacy amongst youths in the community.

Oluwasogo impacted over 207 students who have been able to attend Secondary school education in Ameka Ikwo within the first year since the inception of the community secondary school he founded.

During the celebration of the school’s 1 st year anniversary, he was invited and cheered by members of the community
who pleaded with the Ebonyi State government to approve the school to help sustain the good work Oluwasogo has
done to give youths in the community a second chance at education.
