The head of the Catholic church, Pope Francis, has been gifted with a special edition Lamborghini Huracan.
The car which is estimated to cost about N76million was blessed by the Pope outside the Casa Santa Marta, the guesthouse within the Vatican where he resides.
The white painted luxury car was signed on by the Pope but the Vatican has announced that the vehicle will not be used by the Pope, instead it will be auctioned and the proceeds will go into charity works.
The Pope has favoured three charity organisations to benefit from the proceed of the auction.
The funds will be channeled to rebuild homes and churches for Christians chased out of Iraq by Islamic State terrorists organisations. The effort to rebuild will be focused on the Nineveh Plains, north-east of Mosul, where Christians were made to flee years of fighting.
The goal of the rebuild is to allow Christians who were ejected from the region "to finally return to their roots and recover their dignity,"
Among the two other charities that will benefit from the sale of the car, one assists migrant women who were forced into prostitution and the other provides medical aid in Africa.
The blessing of the car by Pope will most likely increase the value it will sell for against it's original cost.
The fact that the Pope had signed his name on the car largely increased its value. A leather Harley-Davidson motorcycle jacket, also signed by Francis, sold for $77,000.
The money gotten from the auction at Bonhams was channeled to a hostel and food kitchen for the homeless at Rome’s main train station. The motorbike was given to the Pope by Harley-Davidson to mark its 110th anniversary.
