APC NWC fails to meet over Atiku

The meeting of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress did not hold as planned on Monday.
It was learnt that consultations were still ongoing as to what should be on the agenda when the NWC meeting eventually holds during the week.
Opinion is divided as to whether or not recent comments of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan, were worth deliberating on.
While some party leaders argue that their comments are in exercise of their rights to free speech, a few think it is stretching the freedom too far.

Most NWC members stayed away from the party’s national secretariat and declined comments when contacted over the telephone.
A party leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said, “This (APC) is not your typical political party.
“This is the first time in Nigeria where hitherto different opposition parties came together as one to remove a sitting government.
“We are still trying to set aside our individual independence and blend as one but old habits die hard.

“You heard the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, declaring himself as a Buharist; he is speaking for those of the Congress for Progressive Change block of the APC.
