ELVIS: EPISODE 1-4

EPISODE ONE

Monday 9:00am
It was a bright Monday morning, it had dewed early in the morning which is evident by the speckles of water on the leaves and flowers of all vegetation. The sun is just awakening from its slumber although it’s late in coming due to the shorter night and longer day characteristic of December 21. The rays were piercing through the atmosphere like hot knife through butter; the sun rays are gentle to the skin, scientist said this kind of sunlight is rich in vitamin D.
The surrounding is already bustling with activities, cars roaming the road unceasingly, students and lecturers hurrying around trying to keep up with appointments. Feet of students both recognized and unrecognized; staffs; traders; vouchers and all forms of people strutted along the main road leading into the compound of the Hallmark University.
A group of students numbering about 20 to 30 were rushing towards the renowned BTU hall for a MEE test. One doesn’t need to be told for one to know they are 100level students going for MEE101 test with the way they are each hugging their Drawing boards, some held their mathematical sets at hand and some their drawing sheets between their lips as their hands are busy rummaging through their bag to check for any missing items. The hall was chosen for the test because the course is a compulsory course for all jambites and it’s the only hall with enough space and accommodation for it.
To some people it’s the best hall to strike, and its better with more casualties.
He clutched tightly to his bag as he walks leisurely towards the location of his mission, he had been coming for some days to scout the famous hall to know the best time to execute his mission and he had chosen today because he heard in the last ‘lecture’ he attended on his scouting assignments that the BTU hall will be used for a MEE test with over 12,000 students to write it, that’ll make the casualty much and our offer to be considered. He smiled as he saw a pretty lady wriggling her hips, and also clutching her board running towards the test venue, “shame, such a creature will be gone in the hour”.
After walking for about 10 minutes, he got to the hall, stood still as he s----d in the beauty of the hall with a dropped jaw, what a marvelous masterpiece; he saluted the genius architectural mastermind behind the building. He shook his head after recovering from his reverie and made his way to his predefined location.
As was said earlier, the hall looked like an egg, the hall had four entrances, one each located at opposite sides of the sharper edge, large enough to allow 6 persons at once, the other two are located at the broader end, stairs are needed to access these two entrances because they open to a upper level of the hall from the back. Underneath these stairs is an opening which leads to a large space where students use as reading venues, tutorials and also at night, it can be taken for an orgy.
The hall is designed in a way that it’s supported mainly by two large pillars, one each at each end to support the elevated edges of the egg. The large pillar at the broad edge of the egg-like structure is supported by two much smaller ones to keep with the pressure exerted by the multitude in the hall. This specific large pillar is at the extreme part of the expanse beneath the hall. Students seldom go there because it’s standing apart like a leper; and its dark beneath it too. He walked towards the pillar and circled it and got down to business.
He unstrapped his bag, unzipped it and brought out a cluster of bombs; he fastened each bomb dutifully to a metal railing which he has kept primarily for the purpose. When he’s done with the fastening, he screwed the metal railing to the pillar; he shook it furiously to test its rigidity, satisfied; he ceremoniously and skillfully connect each bomb to the timer, interlocking and twisting wires. When he has certified the credibility of his work, he smiled and rose. He was amazed no student has ventured into the area, “maybe the whole school’s writing the test” he said aloud sarcastically.
He looked around for some objects to cover the bomb, at least before it explodes, he saw a board nearby, and he took it and covered the bomb with it. He pulled the board back a bit to set the timer, after he has set the timer, he returned the board, looked around for the last time; picked his bag and the remaining items, he wore his sun shades and walked gracefully out of the location. He smiled at himself for a job well done. Now he has to enjoy the view.
Underneath the board the time ticked tick tock.

EPISODE TWO
<<<<<<<48 HOURS EARLIER>>>>>>
Elvis bounced into the hostel, he had gone home the day before with the hope of spending the weekend in the comfort of his father’s house far from the stress and turbulences of the school. He was shocked when his friend called him about the MEE test slated for Monday, he couldn’t believe he forgot such a crucial test. He had rushed down to school to put finishing touches to his preparations or rather for him to prepare.
“Kelly, how far now” he greeted his roommate as he entered his room
“Finest, how now, I think say nah tomorrow you go come now” Kelly said sitting up from his lying position
“Oga, nah my classrep call me say test dey on Monday o, you no go believe say I forget totally” He replied
“You be baba nah, if you no do the test self, nah still 5 dot” Kelly teased
“Nah now I know say you no well, abeg where Kunle and Chinedu?” he said slapping him playfully
“Dem talk say they get MEE test on Monday, say they wan go practice some drawings”
“So those two whereys no know say I dey 100level too abi, and you self dey waste my time, oga pack well joo” he said, rushing to his corner to grab his MEE board and dashed out.
“Oga, shey you no carry anything come from house ni?” Kelly asked as Elvis dashed out.
“You know say nah me send you come school” he fired back as he busily punched his phone to place a call to Kunle to know their exact location.
……………………………………………………………………
They had finished practicing several mechanical drawings in preparation for the test on Monday, working at it for several hours, Elvis stretched like a lazy woman who’s still lying wearily on bed, he rolled the upper part of his body on his waist in a bid to get his waist to its normal workload after bending for so long. He yanked off some beads of sweat from his forehead. He arranged his materials and arranged them neatly into his bag.
“So you guys wouldn’t have alerted me if my classrep didn’t abi?” he asked his friends
‘His friends’ comprises of his two rummies, Kunle and Chinedu, a stout guy named Smart, a department mate of his and Tayo.
“I thought you were aware and you planned on coming back tomorrow” Kunle answered intelligently
“Shey me no get house ni, if you no come the test, nah you o” Smart fired back, his carefree laughter bouncing around the hall.
“Even if he no do the exam self, nah still you o” Tayo buttressed causing feats of laughter among them all.
“You guys no dey go hostel again abi, hunger dey kill me o” Chinedu said cutting their laughter short.
They hastened the packing of their drawing materials, each tugged at their MEE board as they started the journey to their respective hall of residence.
“Abeg, whey the venue of the test?” Elvis asked again earning puzzling looks from his friends as they approached the famous BTU hall.
“Elvis, tell me the truth, shey you be student of this school?” Smart asked sarcastically
“Leave Elvis o, he’s a student of this school, but a dormant student”
“No he’s not dormant, he just don’t go to class”
“He goes but doesn’t listen”
“He listens but doesn’t understand”
“He understands but…..”
“Will you guys just shut up and answer me and stop this your illegitimate argument, no be your fault, nah me wey ask question” Elvis asked gesticulating like a beggar, switching from good English to pidgin.
They are now in front of the BTU hall
“Oga nah here” Tayo answered him pointing towards the hall “and you fit come by 12 noon for your own test” he quickly added, to the amusement of others and also a glare from Elvis.
“So nah here and I still dey carry board go that hostel, make we drop our boards for here now” Elvis said recovering
“Nah you o, me no dey drop my board o, I no go let person carry my board” Smart interjected again.
Elvis looked quizzically at the others expecting answers which is not forthcoming, his shoulders fell, he groan but went ahead to the space underneath the BTU hall, he located a secluded dark area close to the big pillar that holds most of the weight of this side of the hall and dropped his board. He checked to see how well hidden it is, satisfied he ran out of the enclosement to join his friends as they rambled unending towards their respective hall of residence.

EPISODE THREE
Monday
09:50
The test is about to start, students can be seen entering in anticipation of the test. Elvis is about 5 minutes out; he woke up late due to the midnight calls he did the previous night. He ran as he tried to keep up with the time, his friends didn’t sleep in the room overnight so there’s no one to wake him up. He was sweating like a Christmas goat as he grinded to a halt in front of the hall, he joined the queue and tendered his Identification card as he entered the hall.
“Where is your drawing board” a thick voice startled him which turned out to be one of the lecturers who’s invigilating the exam.
He looked around and realized he’s the odd one out since every student has arranged their drawing sheet neatly on their drawing board, patiently waiting for the commencement of the exam.
“Eh…Em…..sir, I dropped it somewhere sir” he replied after some light years of silence.
“Mr man, get out, come back when you are ready for the test” the lecturer barked
He dashed out of the exam hall to get the board.
“Pass the question to the next person beside you…..if there’s any discriminating material on you its better you do without them now for………” echoed after him as he ran out of the big hall for his board.
…………………………………………………………………
He walked out of the location grinning. He decided to while away the time in canteen. The canteen is at a safe distance from the hall. He ordered some snacks, took a sit beside the window where he can enjoy the scenery of the whole event. He smiled as a student rushed towards the location, maybe he wants to read.
“Sorry boy”
………………………………………………………………
Elvis searched frantically for the board where he had placed it, after several minutes of searching, he had given up and was about sitting on the floor in resignation when he saw his board at the base of the large pillar. ‘How did it get their’ he thought.
He rushed towards it and picked it up, he was about to turn back to leave when he saw something blinking. He looked closer and saw
00:05:25 which changed to 00:05:24 and keeps on reducing every second, it looks like a timer of some sort. What timer is it?
He dragged away the materials covering the object, he went numb for a minute when he remembered he do see this in Hollywood movie, oh it’s a bomb. He ran out of fear, looked around in anxiety and ran back in again, what I’m I to do?
He tried to pull out the bomb and then discovered that it is fastened to a metal railing around the pillar, he can’t pull it out.
He must alert everybody. Now the timer is 00:03:20 and counting.
He ran towards the exam hall shouting at the top of his voice. He barged into the exam hall
“Mr. Man, I told you not to come back when you are not yet ready for the exam, now get….” The troubling lecturer barked again.
“Sir, sir, there is…..there is….bomb….under the hall” he managed to reply breathlessly
The word ‘bomb’ was not taking slightly by the students, those within hearing range of Elvis has started jumping and causing commotion.
“wetin happen?”
“wetin he talk”
“shey he no dey do test ni?”
And other rhetorical questions were been thrown around by some student.
Elvis seeing the commotion he had caused, some students are already leaving in haste, objects are been thrown in the air, yet some students at the back are oblivious of what is happening at the far front.
Maybe he can drag the bomb out……
He rushed out of the hall to the bomb location, now the timer is 00:01:02 and counting, he gave it one last pull, he put a leg on the pillar and pulled the metal holding the bomb with all his might, it felt like he’d trying to pull the pillar itself. The metal is not bulging.
00:00:25 00:00:24 00:00:23
He must get out of here, he left the railing and decided to run out, he turned and fell to discover his leg is stuck in between the pillar and the metal railing. He furiously tried to break himself free. He succeeded after some minutes.
00:00:11 00:00:10 00:00:09
He ran out of the building as the beeping from the bomb got louder.
…………………………………………………………………
He stirred in his seat when he saw the student ran out of there shouting at the top of his voice. He’s too far away to hear what the student is shouted about, the student ran into the hall and he saw some students hastening out of the hall.
“F--k” he muttered “The board” why didn’t he think of that possibility.
Students are already gushing out of the hall like water from a dam that collapsed; he kept on cursing under his breath wishing the bomb to go off immediately.
Some people are already gathering at a distance from the hall, they consist mainly of students rushing out of the hall who are relaying different dimension of rumours to the few bystanders gathering increasingly.
………………………………………………………………..
He ran as fast as his athletic legs would carry him; his heels are touching his head. As he ran, he’s shouting at the top of his voice for students to back off, the already gathered bystanders at a safe distance moved further backward, some students are still trying to get out of the hall, the rush with which they are trying to get out of the hall made there to be a kind of hold-up in their escape quest. Some fell, some were trampled on, and some got stuck all for survival.
He heard a loud bang, and a crashing sound. The force of the impact sent out a gust of wind carried by the dispersion waves. He felt himself flying, he felt he’s falling, his head hit something. Darkness rushed towards him and engulfed him.
……………………………………………………………………
A job well done even with the commotion created already. He was however intrigued by the student who saved and reduced the casualties of his plan. He stood up, readjusted his sunshades and walked out of the restaurant. He walked towards the young man who had been knocked out by the blast from the bomb.
“What a cute young man” he said raising the head of the unconscious boy examining him like a prized asset.
Now is the time for some fun and some warm p---y, He stood up and left the scene. Walking like a child who’s anxious to show his nice result to his parents.

EPISODE FOUR
8 years later
The plane shook a bit as it landed softly on the runaway and taxied over it. It taxied for several meters before grinding to a stop. The hatch door is opened and passengers trooped out. Flight attendants stood at each side of the door welcoming each passenger to Nigeria and asking how well their flight as gone, they are not to be deterred by most passengers who acted as if they are not there.
Dressed in a blue round necked t-shirt, on a jean and a shoe to match, Elvis walked towards the opened hatch of the plane, he murmured his reply to the greetings of the sexy plane attendant who wore a flirting smile. He walked down the hatch and walked towards the arriving lounge of the airport. After finalizing the formalities and picking his luggage, he made his way out of the airport.
He saw someone holding up his name afar off, he walked closer to discover its his sister. On sighting him, she ran with reckless abandon towards him, throwing her whole weight against him, she squeezed him tightly as her hands could afford.
“You know you are now a big girl, throwing yourself at a young bachelor like that” Elvis retorted faking a straight face.
“A young bachelor my foot and its not like your fiancée is anywhere around here” Jane replied.
“My fiancée’s not around, but you might have just broken the heart of a guy wanting to come up to you….” He replied earning him some few punches on his shoulder.
“Did he tell you that you are now beautiful, not that girl with chubby cheeks, who sulks at the slightest chance” he fired back as she went around to help him with some of his luggage.
“You know you are still mean as ever” she replied feigning a hurt-filled countenance.
“I miss you baby girl” he said now hugging and squeezing her.
“You are hurting me bully bro” she manage to say trying to wrench herself from his grasp.
They dragged themselves out of the airport dragging Elvis luggage after them. They entered the blue Camry Jane came with after dumping his luggage in the booth. Jane chattered all the way, filling him in of all the happenings that had taken place in his absence.
Elvis sat comfortably beside his driving sister; she had stopped chattering leaving him to his thoughts. After recuperating fully from the disaster of his former university, he had vowed to catch the culprit behind the bombing. The disaster claimed the life of more than 2000 students, leaving about 3000 students more injured. The school was closed down indefinitely by the vice chancellor but he’s oblivious of the current situation of the school. He felt responsibility for the death of all the students, he wished he had come to the test venue earlier to discover the bomb earlier or better still catch the bomber at it. If only he was seven minutes earlier.
After spending weeks at the hospital, unconscious for most part of it as he was told, he decided to become a detective. He travelled out of the country to study criminology, after his A’ level, he went ahead for his masters and PHD, now back, he’s confident he’ll catch the culprit, at least the investigative department of the Crime Investigating Organization (the secret organization he would be working with) will have some findings, he’ll just use his PHD knowledge to put it together and catch the culprit. It won’t take long; it should be done and dusted in a few weeks. He thought.
“What are you thinking about?” Jane asked bringing him out of his gorge of thoughts.
“Just wandering how much change has occurred within 8 years of leaving Nigeria” he said masking his true thoughts.
“Yea, a lot of things has changed but most noticeable my brother” she replied with a stern look.
“Of course I’m now a big brother” he replied shelving her true line of thought.
“Do you think I’m not observant enough to notice the changes in my brother after the incident at his school?” she replied eyes on the road.
His facial expression got darker.
“Now that you know, have the culprits been found?”
“There you go again with your culprit stuff, there are no culprit, the hall collapsed due to poor building materials and the construction company has been sued” She replied slamming her wrists on the steering.
“There was a bomb underneath the hall, it was fastened to a metal railing, I tried to pull it off but I couldn’t, I know what I saw” Elvis interjected
“There was no bomb anywhere, the police searched and searched for any evidence of bombs but found none”
”Can’t someone just believe me?” He whimpered, “Not even my blood sister”
”Believe you?” she said bringing the car to a halt beside the sidewalk along the road “What are we to believe, do you know what we passed through when you were unconscious, you kept on mumbling incoherent rubbish, you went all AWOL about bomb, explosions and all. We have all chosen to believe you at least to know what you mean by the bomb and bombings but the doctor made us think otherwise, he told us you suffered some kind of damage to your brain when you hit your head on the ground that might cause hallucinations. Now tell me, who would believe someone after hearing such”
He had known his sister to be a straightforward person, how had he not heard of this earlier. Now he knows the reason for the fits he suffered.
He opted to keep silent since no one will believe whatever he says, to them he’s a miniature of a mentally deranged person.
Since no reply is forthcoming, Jane swerved back on track and they continued the journey. But something is hitting hard on Elvis’s mind; he must bring the destructive element that truncated the life of thousands to justice.
