Anike: EPISODE 13,14&15
The next day, I resumed lectures. Admiral calls me everyday to ask after my family and my well being. On Thursday evening he asked if I could come spend the weekend and I agreed. Please who am I to say no. He sent #200,000 into my account.
On Friday morning, I fixed my hair and do some shopping He booked my flight and by Friday . evening, I was already in Abuja. The driver was already waiting for me at the airport, he took me to the house. He joined me in one of the sitting rooms, I had to thank him all over again. We got talking, he’s very jovial I already noticed that on our phone conversations during the week.
Dinner was served and we ate together, quietly. After the meal he said he’ll join me in my room later. My heart skipped a bit.
“Tonight is the night” I said in my
mind.
Later in the evening. He joined me in the
guest room and we got talking again, he ask some questions about school and my academics. I was wondering if coming to Abuja is just to chat with him. He told me, I could ask him any question if I have any. I asked about his family. He told me he’s divorced, he also told me what led to the divorce. He has two kids who lives and school in the UK.
He told me they don’t come to Nigeria, he
only visits them. He said they are with their mum and are doing fine. I asked why he didn’t remarry and he said he has trust issues because of what his wife did to him.
He told me he has a function to attend on Saturday and he wants me to accompany him.
“One more thing, my PA will take
you to the hospital first thing in the morning…”
“Hospital! I didn’t allow him land. “Sir! Why are
we going to the hospital?” I asked curiously.
“Just to run some tests, I want to be comfortable around you” he said. You'll also so be placed on contraceptive to prevent pregnancy” He explained.
“That means we’ll be having sex without
protection” I thought and I shiver. “Don’t worry I’m clean, you can sue me if you find out I’m not.” He smiled “And stop referring to me as sir, call me prince, that’s what those who are close to me calls me.”
“Yes sir… I mean prince.” He bade me good
night and left the room. I thought of everything he said before I slept and I know there’s no turning back. The next day, I followed his PA to the hospital, series of test was conducted, HIV, widal test, blood count, sugar level, blood group,
genotype, ECG name it, I was even taken into a
machine where I was scanned from head to toe.
I went back to the doctor’s office after the tests. PA was there too. I entered and sat next to him. The Doctor gave me the contraceptive pills Prince told me about. He said, I can’t get it on counter, so I have to come to get it in the hospital once it’s finished, he said I could tell prince to send any of his staff to get it for me. He then handed a brown envelope to Mr PA before we leave. We got back home with the sealed results in PA's hand. He was in another sitting room watching CNN. He opened
the brown envelope and read the report which I
guess was satisfactory because he was smiling.
★★★★
He discharged his PA. Your result came
out good. He handed a plastic bag that was
beside him to me. I brought out the two packs, I
couldn’t believe what I saw. IPhone 6 and
Samsung S7 edge and apple laptop. I looked at
him with a questioning eyes. “They are yours” he said. “Thank you sir, God bless you.” “Like I used to tell you, if you need anything whatsoever, do not hesitate to tell me.”
“Ok sir.”
“Don’t worry I’ll have some things deliver to you in school next week.”
“Alright sir, thanks.” He told me to go and prepare for the function we are attending. I got to my room and met a Red Vera Wang couture evening dress, a black Prada peep toe heels and purse.
I wonder how much it will cost. I changed and I
was summoned to join him in the car. I came out and the motorcades were set to leave, black cars with tinted glass. I was lead to his car which is in the middle and I sat besides him. I felt like a queen or a first lady. We alighted when we got to the venue, I was really shy around him, I’m sure some people will take me for his daughter except. for those who knew his children.
It was an elites get together, I met with some, senators and governors I only see on TV. Some top celebrities were also there. I feel good to be around great people. One of his friends, told him he likes me, he said he won’t mind having me, when he is through with me. He told him I’m not a random girl and the man shut his mouth. I was happy, because I can’t imagine him passing me around among his friends like we see in movies. We got back home that night, I was filled and I told the chief who called me for dinner that I’m filled. I got to my room and showered. I changed into my night dress. I put on my data and start replying messages on Facebook and WhatsApp. I also called my mum who obviously thought I was in school. Some minutes later one of the staff told me my attention was needed in the Admiral’s
bedroom.
My heart skipped multiple beats. He led
me to his room and left. The room was glorious,
even a five star hotel rooms is no match. You
can’t insomnia in this room. He beckoned on me to come sit on the king size bed with him. I was nervous and I didn’t do well to hide it.
“Anike, relax. I don’t bite” He said and took my hand, I followed him and we both sat on the bed.
“Anike I really like you. I know you are not a prostitute and I will never treat you like one. I’ll wait till you naturally warm up to me. I should have just let you go the first time you came. I can choose to help you and your family and just let you go, but you are exactly what I needed in my life right now.
I want someone like you, not call girls. As for me I’m good with you, just try and like me a little, it might be difficult because of our age difference. I know I could pass for your father, that is sure but I need a companion and I found one in you.”
I only nodded to everything he said, sincerely I don’t know what to say. “Can you sleep beside me tonight?” he asked. Please what I’m I suppose to say. I said yes and lay on the bed. He laid beside me. “Good night” I said closing my eyes in fear.
“Good night or do you care to sleep in my arms.”
I nodded like a little girl and he pulled me into his arms. I slept in his arms and woke up in the his arms on Sunday morning. I stood up quietly.. I tip toed and went back to my room to bath but my things were no longer there. I met one of the staff and he told me my things have been moved into. Admiral’s room this morning.
EPISODE 14
I went back to his bedroom he was now
awake. “Good morning, how was your night” he
asked. “Fine I was told my things have been
moved into your room.” “Yes, you are no longer
my guest or you still consider yourself as one?”
I just gave him a faint smile. He continued. “I
already told you what I want from you, if I just
want to sleep with you, I would have taken you to a hotel, you won’t be in my house not to talk of sleeping in my room, on my bed. “I get it sir, it’s about companionship and not just sex.”
"Prince” he corrected.
Ok Prince, I need to bathe, where are
my things.”
He led me to his closet And I almost
fainted, when I saw his closet. Designer
Shirts….suits….pants…..ties….shoes…..perfumes,
wristwatches, name it. The closet could pass for a boutique. Then I walked down the closet and took a closer look and I saw female collections ranging from wears, shoes, bags, purse, female wristwatches, all designers and I noticed the clothes and shoes were all my size.
Is this what I’m thinking?” “They are all yours, except you don’t like them” I heard his voice from behind.
“Prince! Of Cause I love them, thank you.”
“You don’t have to come with clothes whenever you are coming to Abuja, in fact you can just come in with just your phones and purse. You are also free to take any of them along with you when you’re going back to school.”
“Prince you will spoil me rotten” I pointed
out.
“Allow me spoil you my princess.” I saw my
box at the corner, I picked the things I needed
including underwears and went into the bathroom, locked the door from inside. He saw me when I came out of the bathroom with a top and towel around my waist. “Anike…. He said teasingly. I walked passed him and went into the closet. I picked a Givenchy peach color peplum laced top on Amy green midi length fitted pencil skirt. By the time I was through dressing up, he was already in the bathroom. So I went to sit in one of the sitting rooms. We ate breakfast and I informed him I’m going to church. Since he didn’t sleep with me the previous night I was still free to go to church, or so I thought.
“I’ll tell one of the drivers to take you” that was all he said.
I was happy he didn’t frown at my idea of going to church. After breakfast, I went back to put finishing touches on my dressing. I wore a light make up, I picked a matching Dolce & Gabbanna high heel sandal and purse. I looked at myself in the mirror and I liked what I saw. I looked classy and I determined to carry myself as one. Because I know everything I wear from now on is standard. I was about to leave the room when he entered. I saw the look in
his eyes, he gave some compliments before I left the room. I came back from church and asked after Prince from his PA he said he’s not back from Church.
“So he goes to church too, I thought.” The master bedroom was locked but Mr PA opened it for me. He met me eating lunch when he came back, he changed and joined me.
“You didn’t tell me you are going to church” I said.
“You didn’t ask” he replied. “We could have gone to your church together.” “I worshiped at the chapel in Aso rock and you can only get in with a security clearance” he explained. “Oh! Now I get it.”
“Don’t worry we can go together next time. I’ll
arrange it.”
“Really!” Seriously I wouldn’t mind.
Worshipping in Aso rock chapel. After having
lunch. He took me to another sitting room, I’ve not been there before. This was exquisite, I wondered the amount of money that was put into the interior decoration. The first two sitting rooms is nothing compared to this one. We got talking, the TV was on CNN.
“I doubt if you watch any other station
aside this CNN” I asked. I noticed I’m more free
with him, ever since last night.
“I thought you won’t complain” he smiled and handed the remote control to me. “Help yourself” he said.
“I changed the station to E! Entertainment.
“Ladies and entertainment gossips” he smirked. He made some phone calls while I was engrossed with my TV program. He called his kids too.
“How old are they, your children” I asked when he ended the call. “My daughter is 22 and my son is 19.
“This might sound awkward but your daughter and I are age mates.”
“Yea, it sounds really awkward” He draw me closer to him and rest my head on his chest. ...

Episode 15
Hours later he offered to show me around the
house. It was a cool evening. It was a nice tour, the house was really big, the staffs too has there own lodge. He showed me around the garden, he has two swimming pools. We returned into the house, and went into his bedroom. He sat on the couch and I sat next to him.
“What time do you have lectures tomorrow?”
“ 8am”
“I suggest you go back today so you won’t miss
your 8am lecture. I’ll call PA to arrange for your
flight ticket.
“Thank you sir, you are the most considerate and selfless person I’ve ever met. He transferred #500,000 into my account, I hugged
him this, time. He hugged me back and kissed me on the forehead. He told he’ll be traveling tomorrow morning and will be back in two weeks.
“See you soon my beautiful princess, have a safe trip” he said and pecked me on the cheeks.
The driver announced his set and followed him out.
I got back to the hostel in the evening, my room
mate was not back. Prince called me, I told him I just got in. We talked for more than hour before he ended the call.
Happy came back in the morning while I was
preparing for lectures.
We exchanged greetings. “How’s Admiral Alawode”, she asked
“He’s fine”
“Any show?”
“No show”
“Really!”
“Why is he doing all this?”
“He said it just about sex”
“He’s really working on you o, I think he doesn’t
want you to have you just for sex. He wants you to love him, he’s really love starved”
Happy was right, prince wants to have my heart not only my body. But how can I fall in love with a man old enough to be my father.
I left the room and went for lectures.
Prince called everyday and we talked for two hours minimum everyday. During the period of two weeks he transferred close to #800,000 into my account.
I spend wisely, I saved most of my money.
I had to learn from my Mum’s mistake. I only sent money home and I also transferred # 100k to Happy. We talked about so many things, we spoke freely to each other. He told things I never knew about navy, I almost wish I joined the navy. He said I can apply once graduate, he will get me in easily but I told him to get at least one of siblings into the navy instead. And he promised to do so. Atleast I can secure the future of my siblings too.
We discussed politics, his personal businesses, my academics and all. I always asked after his children too.
He said he miss me and I said I miss him too. I
miss you” I don’t know where that words came
from, but I’m sure is from mouth. I think I’m going to miss him. And my heart is gradually warming up to this wonderful and charming man. He’s really getting into me and I can feel it in just two weeks.
Two weeks later, he was back, he invited me over that weekend and I was in Abuja. He was so please to see me, so am I. He hugged me and planted a dry kiss on my lips. A current ran through my spine.
Take care and have a safe trip” he said smiling.
One of the staff took my hand bag to his room. I
followed the guy, I needed to change to a comfy
foot wear.
I joined him shortly, it was almost time for dinner.
“Let me get to the kitchen” I informed him.
“To do what?” just talk to the chef if you need
anything”
“I want to cook for you, don’t you get tired of the
chefs food( he has two chefs)
“You want to cook for me!”
Are you scared I’m not that bad”
“No I was just surprised, that’s thoughtful of you”
“Just tell me what you want, and I’ll prepare it, you know I cant make different dishes like your chef”
“I made to leave and he followed me. “You want to come into the kitchen, your men are around o, what will they say if they see you in the kitchen”
I’ll just keep your company, he followed me, I can’t imagine what was going on in the mind of his staffs who saw us.
I made jollof spaghetti and garnished it with
chopped beef, chicken, fish, carrot green peas. I
served it with chilled ice tea. The chef offered to help me set the table but I declined.
“Wow, it taste great, you are a damn good cook”
“Thank you”
“I hope you’ve not committed yourself because I won’t mind eating your food whenever you are
around”
“That’s not a problem, I’ll gladly oblige you.
Later in the night I showered and changed again in the bathroom. I wore my robe and lay on the bed.
He showered and joined me. He cuddled me as I lay in his arms.
“Anike do you want to be with me or let me put it like this do you like me enough to be with me?”
“Prince….I like you already. It’s been a month now we knew each other and you are practically
everything to me. A father, helper, friend, confidant and a companion. I now enjoy your company, you should that I like you already”
“You don’t know how happy I am to hear those
words from you” he said and pulled me closer. I
felt so secured in his arms that I slept off.
The next day, Saturday morning. After breakfast, he took me out to catch fun. He promised to take me some resorts outside the country when I’m on holiday. He asked if I have an international passport and I told him, I have. My Dad got it for me before he died.
“That reminds me, I have a conference meeting in south Africa this week, but you can join me on Friday, then we’ll come back on Sunday. Please say yes”
“Yes, I’ll come”
“Good how arrange everything”
We got back to the house, I just took fruit and went to bed.
“Are you sleeping already?” he asked when he
entered the room.
“No I’m still awake” We gist about the places we
went to earlier, he said some funny things to him and I hit him playfully. We started rolling on top each other. He stopped he was on top me. He looked me in the eyes, I saw desires in his eyes, I knew he wanted me. I closed my eyes and he kissed with burning passion, he’s big hands were doing wonders on my body. He made to undress me and I held his hands.
“Prince! Wait!”...

IMPREGNATE ME OR I DIE* *Part Seven*
My husband practically dragged me to the hospital. He made all the complaints to the doctor as I was economical with information about my health so as to avoid any treatment that will jeopardize my chances of conceiving that month. Immediately the doctor asked me to lie on the patient stretcher so he could observe me. He did I quick scan on my abdomen, 'madam you may stand up.' He said after the scan. My eyes were fixed on his lips, anxious to hear his diagnosis. 'Sir, madam is having an infection and that is the cause of the pain, I will place her on medication for two weeks. I will also treat you so you won't pass it to her again through sexual intercourse.
Does it mean I am not pregnant? I asked myself and unknown to me my silent question was loud enough that the doctor heard it. 'No madam, you are not pregnant. Even if you were pregnant I would prefer we take care of this infection first.' At that moment I hated my husband for bringing me to hear this bad news, I hated the doctor too for giving me this bad news. For the period we spent with the doctor I was quiet all through. Inside the car while going home I didn't say a word to my husband neither did I reply any of his conversations.
We got home and my husband gave me the dose for that night. 'I won't take these drugs because I know I don't have any infection. Even if I have an infection, my God will heal me.' I told my husband.
My husband was not happy about my attitude and I could see anger all over his face. The drugs were too powerful for an expectant mother and I didn't wish to take such medication at the moment . It will suspend my plans of getting pregnant for two months. If I take the drugs now, it will flush out my pregnancy and will not allow me observe my ovulation time for the next month. I refused to take the drugs but kept praying to God for this month's pregnancy to stay.
I started vomiting some days later. I quickly rushed to the calendar to calculate the days I missed my period, it was the 29th day after the last circle. I quickly put a call through to Sally, 'I think I am pregnant', I told her on phone. 'Have you gone for a test?' she asked me. 'I have been vomiting for two days now and I haven't seen my menses for 29 days, do I need any test to know I am pregnant?'
'Missing your menses for 29 days and vomiting are not enough to conclude you are pregnant. Dear friend, please go for pregnancy test tomorrow. I know it will surely be positive, congratulations in advance.' she said. I couldn't explain what I felt because of what Sally said and the congratulation greeting.
My fear with going for pregnancy test is the fact that I will not be able to withstand "madam you are not pregnant" or "madam the test is negative". I decided I won't go to the hospital for a test until I see more signs of pregnancy.
My husband and I had not been friendly terms because of my refusal to take the drugs prescribed for the treatment of the infection. I knew I was still in control of his heart because of the love he had for me, so I wasn't afraid. More so, I know telling him that I was pregnant will change his attitude, all I needed was just to be sure I was pregnant.
I waited on till the 36th day before I told my husband I was ready for a pregnancy test. He smiled and said 'pregnancy test you will have.' He quickly dressed up and we drove to the hospital. This time I was more optimistic because I had seen almost all the pregnancy signs I have heard of in my life. My blood sample was taken, 'you may wait at the reception,'the lab lady announced to us. But this was not the method last time, I sat with the man while he did the test. Why is this lady asking us to go out first for a test that's less than fifteen minutes? We obeyed and went to sit at the reception. Fifteen minutes later she called out my name to come for my result. My husband asked me to sit down while he went for the result but I pretended as if I didn't hear him, so I followed him right behind. As soon as I saw the lady handing over a brown envelope to my husband I started feeling dizzy. Before my husband could collect the envelope I was down on the floor. All that happened thereafter was explained to me when I regained my consciousness.

Apple earnings arrive with trillion-dollar value near
Apple will release quarterly earnings figures Tuesday as it flirts with a history-making, trillion-dollar market value based on its share price.
To hit the trillion-dollar mark, Apple shares would have to climb about seven percent from the $189.91 price logged at the close of official trading Monday on the Nasdaq.
The market is eager for news about demand for iPhones and how the company is riding out trade turbulence between the US and China.
President Donald Trump’s trade wars include 25 percent US tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese goods, with more on the way, and steep tariffs on steel and aluminum, which provoked China and others to hit back with import duties on US goods.
The Silicon Valley-based company is expected to unveil new iPhone models in the fall, sticking with its practice of releasing upgraded models annually ahead of the year-end holiday shopping season.
Sales of iPhones in the quarter could be tame since many fans have historically either bought handsets in prior months or are holding out for new models on the near horizon.
Apple earnings are likely to be solid, with the average price of iPhones sold rising as buyers opt for the top-end iPhone X.
Billions of dollars that Apple has been spending to buy back shares could help propel the company past a trillion-dollar value mark in the stock market.
Early this year, Apple announced it would buy back $100 billion in shares.
Apple has managed to shine, despite bruises to its image that included being accused of keeping young people addicted to smartphones, slowing performance of older iPhones to motivate upgrades and sidestepping taxes by nestling cash in offshore havens.
The market will be watching to see whether a battery replacement program and software changes to improve performance of older iPhones are costing the company.
Apple has battled with the US government over making iPhones so secure even police can’t peek at data, and prides itself on not making money off people’s personal information the way ad-targeting companies such as Facebook do.
Apple has hammered away at the growing amount of money it takes in from music, applications, games, subscriptions and services it sells to people using its devices.
Money made from services is seen as an important element of diversification away from having to rely heavily on selling iPhones.
A 31 percent rise in services to $9.2 billion in the first three months of this year followed big jumps in Apple Pay, Apple Music and other programs.

NAOWA donates food items to widows of fallen heroes
The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, 81 Division Chapter, Lagos, has donated food items to some widows of Nigerian soldiers who died in the insurgency in the North-East of the country.
Mrs Grace Udoh, the President of the Association in the chapter, made the presentation on Monday evening at the Ikeja Cantonment.
She urged the fallen heroes’ wives to be strong and courageous, “I want to urge you wives of our fallen heroes to be strong, courageous and engage in positive ventures that would create a better life for you and your children in the future.
You must endeavour to send your children to school, as education is a sure key to success.
When they are well educated, the chances of child abuse, teenage pregnancy and other criminal tendencies would be reduced, and they will also have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our nation,” she said.
Udoh advised the widows to enrol for skill acquisition programmes, to enable them to fit well into the society in due time, to avoid the sorrow and pain of the absence of their dear ones.
“Please accept the token presentation of various items and use them judiciously, as we hope to come up with more programmes of mutual benefit,” she said.
Udoh said the presentation was meant to reach out to some of the widows of the great men of honour, who laid down their lives for the peace and progress of our great nation.
She urged the women to take advantage of free Vocational Training Centre organised for them, to enhance their socioeconomic development.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Idayat Yusuf, thanked the association for the gesture.

Anike: Episode 10,11&12
Episode 10
Admiral Gabriel Alawode transferred
#400k into Happy’s account. She
transferred 200k into my account. I
started preparing for Friday, she took
me to the spa, fixed my hair, bought
make up although I’m not the heavy
make up type, but she forced me to buy
it. I also bought some clothes from her
boutique which she picked for me
herself. She even gave me discount.
As I was packing on Friday morning, I
got a call from the president of my
school fellowship, we talked for a while
and he said we’ll see on Sunday to
continue the discussion. I told him, I
won’t be in church on Sunday, he asked
why and I told him I have a function to
attend, I lied. I ended the call.
It now dawn on me that I’m already
backsliding gradually, Sin will always
breeds more sin. You will always need a
lie to cover up another lie. I know I’m
about to embark on a journey that will
ruin my relationship with God.
I wonder how I’ll tell a man I slept with
over night that I’m going to church on
Sunday, I’m sure he’ll laugh me to
scorn.
I wore a Turquoise blue Bodycon midi
gown and applied little make up. I
picked up my already packed bag, wore
a high heels sandal and left for the
airport.
My plane landed at exactly 5:45pm on
Friday. That was my first time in Abuja.
Happy did not have Admiral Alawode’s
personal number, so there was no one
to call except her, I was still looking
around, then my phone rang, it was
Happy.
She told me to go to the parking lot,
that the driver is waiting for me, she
gave me the color of the car and plate
number.
I located the car and tapped the
window, the driver whined down the
glass.
“Hi, I’m Anike, Admiral Alawode’s
guest” He unlocked the back door and I
entered.
I alighted and behold a mighty building,
the exterior was beautiful and perfect
and I wondered what the interior would
look like. All the staffs in the house are
all on navy uniform, the driver, gateman and the securities at each door post. I guess they are low rank officers.
I was ushered into the house by one of
the officers who offered me a sit and
told me to make myself comfortable.
I was told Admiral Alawode was not
around. The sitting room was oozing
wealth the chandelier hanging on the
room is heavenly. The Plasma TV can
serve in a cinema, I’ve never seen such
large screen before. Every thing in that
house smells money. I was offered a drink which I declined.
The chef also came out to ask what I’d
like to eat, I told him I was ok. I was
scared of been drugged. Too much of
Nollywood film, I thought.
I diverted my attention to the TV, just to
distract myself a little from my evil
thoughts and nervousness.
Few minutes to 7pm I heard sirens, the
owner of the house is back, my heart
almost jumped out of my mouth. All the
staffs inside were all on attention.
I was stunned when I saw him walked
into the house in his all white Navy
Uniform, I doubt if this man is 52 he
was looking so young, then I remembered money does magic. He’s damn handsome. He’s chocolate skin was so fresh and glowing. I doubt if he walks under the sun. I take a closer look at him, he could pass for one of our
handsome veteran Nollywood actor. I
wondered if they are in anyway related.
His voice brought me back to the
presence world.
“Hello young Lady”
“Good evening sir”
“Anike right?” I guessed Happy gave
him my name.
“Yes sir” I said not feeling too
comfortable around him.
He looked at me for some seconds.
From the look on his face I can’t judge
whether he likes me on not.
“How was your trip?” he asked
“It was fine sir” I replied with a little
bow.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Admiral Gabriel
Alawode” He extended his hand for a
handshake and I took it”
“The pleasure is mine sir”
“Do make your self comfortable, if you
need anything just tell any of them” he
said pointing to his men.
He called on one of his men. “Show her
to the guest room” he said and left
with one of the officers, who held like
four phones and a bag. I think that’s his
PA or he’s right hand man.
I was taken to the guest room, it was
tastefully furnished too, with sofa,
plasma TV like 32”. It also has a
beautiful paintings on the wall. The bed
is large and the mattress is soft.
I settled down and kept my things in
the wardrobe, I took my bath and
changed into a green sleeveless gown a
little below my knee.
An hour later, I was told dinner is
ready, I was to join Admiral Alawode in
the dinning. I was very nervous but I
tried to mask my fears.
I met him already sitting at the dinning,
I was nervous, I sat beside him quietly.
There are different kinds of food on the
dinning table, the dinning was the glass
rotating type, you just spin it to the
food you want and serve yourself. Local
dishes, intercontinental dishes, different
kinds of meet, everything was there. I
spinned the glass center tray and picked
a wrap of semo and I took vegetable
soup that was garnished with pomo,
stock fish, assorted meat, and crayfish.
The meat was so big that I had to just
pick one. He served himself too, I did
not bother to check his food. I just ate
quietly beside him, thinking of my
family. I wondered if they’ve eating this
evening.
I finished my food and He asked if I was
OK and I said yes.
“Have a wonderful night rest, I’ll see
you tomorrow” he said and stood up.
I was surprised, I thought we were
supposed to sleep together.
“Good..good night sir” I replied.
I left the dinning too almost
immediately.
I went to the guest room. I was happy
nothing is happening that night at least
even if my body will be defiled, its not
tonight. Although I was still surprised at
his actions, may be he did not like me. I
concluded.
I took my phone and called Happy, I
explain the situation of things to her.
“I don’t think he likes me” I said to her
“Anike calm down and have a good
night rest, if he doesn’t like you, he’ll
release you tomorrow morning.
Although he called me some minutes
ago and he didn’t mention anything like
that”
“Did he say anything about me?”
“Yes, I’ll tell you when you are back”
“Tell me now, please…..
“Noooo later, good night Anike”
“Good night”
I called my mum also, I talked with her
and my siblings. I’m very sure she will
pray for me that night, she would tell
God to protect me in my room not
knowing I’m under a man’s roof in
Abuja.
I wish she could change her prayer to
father protect my daughter wherever
she may be’
I lay on my bed to sleep, I was about to
say my prayers as usual and guilt held
me back. I forced myself to pray, I
doubt if God is listening. I know the
prayer of a sinner or about to be sinner
is an abomination before God.
I slept for few hours before 2am I was
up, I was just rolling in bed. I turned my
phone on, on my data I replied some
messages. I log into the site where I
read stories. I have some stories I was
following. I read all the recent updates.
I dose off around 5am.
Episode 11
I woke up by 6am. I prayed briefly, at
least I thanked God I didn’t die
overnight. I took my bath, I wore a strap
pencil dress.
I lie on the bed after dressing up, I was
called up for breakfast around 8am on
Saturday morning.
I met him on the dinning reading a
newspaper.
Good morning sir, I said as I joined him”
“Good morning, hope you slept well?”
“Ehm….Yes I did”
He was wearing a white crested navy
polo on a navy blue three quarter
baggy.
“You did not sleep well” he said, more
of a statement than a question.
“How did he know, did he has a camera
in that room” I thought.
“You have sleep bags on your eyes” he
said as if he read my thought.
“Oh!” I said in a low tone, I doubt if he
heard.
He continued. “So why didn’t you sleep
well? I hope I’m not a bad host”
“No sir, maybe it’s because I’m new in
this environment”
“Ok, let’s eat”
The table was all set again, as if we are
having a feast. I went for fried rice and
chicken and stepped it down with juice.
I excused myself, I went back to my
room after eating.
Two hours later or thereabout, I heard a
knock on my door, I did not bother to
ask who it was, I just opened and
Admiral Alawode was standing in front
of me.
I’d like us to talk, he said and I made
way for him to come in. He sat on the
two sitter chair in the room and
gestured for me to sit beside him,
which I did. He moved closer to me, I
inhaled his expensive cologne.
“Tell me about yourself” he said and I
told him everything, my fathers demise
and what brought me here.
He asked if I have a boyfriend, I said no
and he asked why, then I told him
about Olamilekan and how he left the
country to study abroad. I told him ever
since he left I’ve decided to be on my
own for the time been.
He was a good listener, he listened with
rapt attention, he paused me once in a
while to ask questions. After he got all
the information he needed about me,
he held my hands.
“I’m sorry about your father but I’ll try
all my possible best to help you and
your family get back on your feet” he
assured me.
“Thank you sir”
“You are…..”his ringing phone cut him
short
“Please excuse me” he said
“Your Excellency sir..…. Alright Mr
President” he said
“Did the president just called him?
Happy was right. I was wowed, have
never been close to someone who had
such connections all my life. So Happy
was right” I thought.
After the call, He asked for my bank
account details and I gave him.
“I just transferred some money into
your account” he said while tapping on
his phone. I got a message alert on my
phone, I checked, it was a bank Alert,
my account was credited with #1
million. I opened my mouth but I
couldn’t talk.
“The driver we take you to the airport,
now, I’ve booked a flight to Lagos for
you, go and sought your family out with
that money for now. I have a house in
lekki you can move them into the house
for now, I’ll call the securities there and
notify them. I want your siblings to go
back to school, use the money to pay
the bills, there are good schools in
lekki, they can attend” he said
I was on my knees crying before he
could stop me.
“Thank you very much, May God bless
you, every good thing you lay your
hands on shall prosper in Jesus name”
He asked me to stand but I refused to, I
was on my knees praying all sorts of
prayer for him. He watched me and
allow me do my thing. I stood up when
I was through.
I was so elated, then I remembered my
mum, what will I tell her when I get to
Lagos. The man read me like a book, he
knew something was wrong.
“What’s the problem?….. Oh your Mum,
no mother in his right senses wouldn’t
ask questions, but you’ll have to come
up with something or better still, tell
her the truth, you share your problems
with someone and he’s willing to help,
after all that’s what it is for now. I
could talk to her on phone to clear her
doubts” he suggested.
“He gave me his number.” That’s my
personal line, you don’t have to go
through my PA or the normal protocol.
Just call me anytime, and let me know if
you need anything. I can’t believe he
could give me his personal line, Happy
did not have it. He asked for my phone
number too and I gave him.
I got to Lagos and went to the church
where my mum and siblings were
staying in Maryland. I cried when I saw
my mum, she has grown lean. She told
me the church has been catering for
them for some days now.
I sat my mum down and explain
everything to her. I told her the truth,
let’s say half truth not 100% truth. I had
to leave the path that Admiral Alawode
is my soon to be potential sugar daddy.
I called a cab, we packed the few things
they have with them and went to lekki,
I gave the cab man the address and he
took us to the place.
I knocked at the gate and the security
man opened, he said his Boss had
called, so he let us in, the securities
even helped carried our bags into the
house. The house was cleaned, I’m sure
they clean it everyday, the sitting room
was well furnished. The house is a
duplex with six rooms.
We were still settling down when two
guys came in with groceries, they
stalked the kitchen with food stuffs and
fridge with food, drinks and bottled
water. The freezer too was stalked with
meat, chicken, pepper and other
perishable foods.
My mum was just wondering what
miracle was going on. I know she had
things on her mind. I had so many
things on my mind too.
“I thought this man did not like me at
first but doing all this means he’s
interested. But come to think of it, he
did not touch me all through my stay in
his house” I said in my mind.
I went into the kitchen with my
immediate sister, Adekemi. We
prepared rice with meat stew. My
siblings were happy.
“I can’t remember the last time, we ate
good food like this” Okiki our last born
and the only boy said.
“All thanks to our loving sister”
Adekemi added with smiles on her face.
“Let’s just give thanks to God, our
suffering is over” I said.
Everyone had already picked a room,
after eating, I went to mine, while my
siblings settled to watch TV, there was
subscription on the cable.
Episode 12
Some minutes later, my mummy who
was quiet all through came into my new
room.
She sat on my bed. “Anike, who is this
good Samaritan, that did all this for us
without even knowing us?”
“Mummy I told you everything, he just
decided to help me after hearing my
story, nothing more”
“How did you meet him?”
“I met him through Happy, my nice
room mate I told you about. He is
Happy’s Uncle”
I couldn’t believed I lied easily to my
mum, I never lied to her and she always
believe every word that comes out of
my mouth.
“Anike, hope you’re not keeping a sugar
daddy because of us?”
“Mummy he’s not my sugar daddy, will
you talk to him, so you could be rest
assured?”
“Yes I will” she answered.
I thank God Admiral gave me the
permission to allow her speak to him. I
put a call through to him. He
disconnected and called back.
“Good evening sir, my mum will like to
speak with you” I told him.
I gave my mum, the phone, he told my
mum, he just wanted to help since he
had the capacity to do so. My mum
thanked and prayed for him, She said
she would like to meet him to thank
him in person but Admiral Alawode
told her not to bother. She passed the
phone over to me, when she was done
talking. I thanked him too.
My mum was a bit confused rather than
convinced. A sugar daddy wouldn’t
have spoken to her the way he did.
“Anike, swear to me that, there’s
nothing between you and that man,
Mummy there’s nothing between us(at
least for now; I said that in mind) He’s
just God sent Mummy”
When she left my room, I called Happy
and explain everything to her.
Tinuke called me later that night and I
told him about Admiral Alawode, she
was not happy with the decisions I took.
But I told her, I had to do it for my
family. She knew my mind was made up
already. She adviced me to quit once I
get what I wanted from him.
On Sunday we attended a church very
close to the house, although one of the
security men insisted on taking us to
the church, there was two cars in the
compound.
After service, will started planning for
the next day, my siblings has to go back
to school.
On Monday morning, the driver took us
to one of the schools around, he said
the school is one of the best in the area.
We got to school and was taking to the
admin block, the admin gave us some
forms to fill. He asked for there classes.
Okiki is in SSS 1 while Adekemi is in
SSS3 he gave us the bills, Adekemi’s bill
was much because of the NECO and
WAEC fees. We are to pay in bank. I ask
if I could make the transfer online since
I have the mobile app on my phone He
said I can make an online transfer which I did.
He connected my phone to
the printer and printed out the transfer
details.
My siblings were given uniforms,
cardigan, sport wears, books and some
text books. He called on the office
assistance to show them to their
respective classes, while i returned
home with my mum.
We got home and I started preparing for
school, I already miss today’s lectures. I
informed my mum that I was leaving.
She prayed for me and thanked me.
“Anike if you need anyone to talk, I’m
here and please don’t sell your body
because of us. Please if he wants
something else from you, don’t hesitate
to tell me. We can easily return all the
things he gave us ” She said crying.
“Mummy why the tears again, I’m fine
don’t worry about me” I hugged her and
picked my bag.
“Admiral Alawode called me. He told
me he had booked a return ticket back
to school for me.
★★★★
I got back to school in the evening.
Happy gave me a warm welcome and
went into details. For the very first time
she prepared a meal for me.
“So he didn’t touch you, that man really
surprised me o, I never knew he was
this gentle, I know he’s nice but never
thought he could act cool around a girl
like this”
“I was surprised too, that reminds me.
What did he say about me?”
“He said he likes you immediately he
set his eyes on you, that you are
charming. He said he expected to see
someone who will dress to kill but he
said you looked very homely and he
loved the simplicity about you”
“Really, I thought he wasn’t interested
in me, although he was indifference, I
can’t say whether he likes me or not”
“Maybe he wants to make sure he
makes you happy first before sleeping
with you”
“Happy, you won’t believe the
president called him and they were
chatting and laughing”
“I told you, he’s one of the top rated
people of this country”
“Thank you so much, Happy. You don’t
know what you did in my life”
“You are welcome, please don’t
disappoint me. I don’t want him to call
and start complaining, anyway I trust
you won’t fall my hand”.

*IMPREGNATE ME OR I DIE * *Part Six*
I came home and met my husband in a happy mood. He had set the dining table ready in anticipation of the good news. It wasn't closing time but he was already home, obviously to hear the news first hand.
However, there was no good news to tell my husband. I looked at the joy and excitement in his face and felt very bad at that moment. I started imagining the treatment I would have received from my husband if I could just announce to him that "I am pregnant". Why did God turn my happiness to sadness? It was really heavy for me to inform him that I was not pregnant after all the drama. I handed over the envelope to him and rushed to the bathroom to fix my sanitary pad so as to avoid the flow from staining me.
He took the brown envelope and stared at it for a long time without altering a word. My husband is a man of faith and I know that. After some minutes he joined me in the bedroom where I was sobbing, 'why are you crying my sweet heart?' He asked. 'Why won't I cry? When God seems to have forgotten me but choose to show kindness to a sinner. I may not be a perfect Christian but I am a good one. Why will I keep myself for all these years and God will choose to pay me back in this painful way, I retorted as I sobbed bitterly. My husband was temporarily confused, he was short of words and I understood as he tried to mutter some words but swallowed them again. He couldn't withstand my tears as some unsolicited tears dropped down his own cheeks uncontrollably.
He later summoned strength and courage and said, 'sweetheart, it is too early to worry about pregnancy. We are barely less than two months in marriage and you are already devastated because you didn't conceive in the first month. You need to take it easy, if you didn't achieve pregnancy this month, you can achieve it next month. Stop accusing God that way, that's close to blaspheming. Stop crying and wipe away your tears. I am your husband and we are in it together.' He hugged me, cuddled me, kissed me, etc but all that made no meaning to me at that moment.
For three days, I lost my appetite. My husband tried to make me eat but I couldn't. All the times he forced me to, I threw it all up eventually. He was so worried that he called my mom to inform her of all that has happened and my attitude towards the matter. My mom called me and cheered me up. She took her time to explain the ovulation process and how I should take advantage of it next month. I thanked my mom and we ended the call. That gave me some small relief and was able to eat some noodles. I made up my mind to yield to my mom's advice and take full advantage of my ovulation time. I started calculating based on the way my mom taught me.
From my calculations, my ovulation was supposed to be around 15th, by 12th I started giving my husband enough water melon and dates fruit to boost his performance for the period. Even when I was having pains I didn't let my husband know so as not to advice we should minimize the number of times we met together. I made him sleep with me twice before he left for work and when he came back from work, we did it before his meal. At night, we could go as much as three to four rounds. I was determined not to leave any stone unturned this time. At some point, he complained mildly, 'sweetheart don't you think we are having too much of sex?' He asked. 'What is too much sex for a new couple who wants a child?' I replied. 'Don't tell me you are already getting bored with sex just after two months of marriage. If we don't have sex how do you want me to be pregnant?' He was pacified and apologized for complaining.
After a weeklong sex romp with my husband I started having some pains around my lower abdomen, the pains were hurting and sharp. I didn't bother to tell my husband because I don't want him to tell me to go to the hospital. I endured the pain for two weeks thinking it will subside but it rather grew worse.
On the 3rd of November I went to the nearby pharmacy to get pregnant test kits. I will carry out the test myself before going to the hospital for confirmation. I was anxious it will be positive this time. I did the test and I didn't understand the result. I went back to the pharmacist the following day for him to explain to me how to interpret the result of the test. He did and asked me to get another kit to re-conduct the test. While I was going home that day I asked myself, "Maryam why the desperation? Why do you want to kill yourself over pregnancy for a marriage that's less than three months?" I challenged myself in many ways but yet I was still worried. I threw away the new pregnancy test kit I just bought and went home trusting God.
The pain in my abdomen became unbearable by the day. I spoke to my husband about it and of course he said we will see the doctor tomorrow. He didn't seek for my consent the following day when he came back from work and told me to prepare for a visit to the hospital. 'Sweet heart, I think I am better now and there will be no need going to the hospital again,' I told him. My husband took me by my hand and pulled me up and pointed towards the room, 'go in there and put on your clothes now,' he said. I obeyed him and went in to change my clothes.

I am not bothered about defections from APC – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari says the gale of defection currently being witnessed in the ruling All Progressives Congress is not bothering him.
According to a statement on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President spoke on Sunday night while responding to a question during an interactive session he had with the Nigerian community in Togo at the Nigerian Embassy, Lome.
Buhari was quoted as saying that he was not bothered by the defections because most Nigerians appreciate his administration’s performance.
“I am not bothered about the defections. Ordinary Nigerians have developed confidence in us and are defending us. I assure you, majority of Nigerians back home are appreciative of our efforts,” the President was quoted as saying.
Expressing delight in seeing the Nigerians who had travelled from the five regions of Togo to welcome him in Lome, Buhari said he was pleased to hear them commend the performance of his administration.
He assured them that his administration had remained steadfast in keeping to its three campaign promises of providing security, improving the economy and fighting corruption.
The President noted that if past governments had utilised even 25 per cent of the huge oil revenue available to them, Nigerians would not be complaining today.
He cited the $16bn reportedly spent on electricity and yet Nigerians could not see the power.
Restating his administration’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure, providing loans to farmers thereby cutting rice importation by more than 90 per cent, Buhari said all recovered illegally acquired assets would now be sold and the money paid into the treasury in the administration’s renewed anti-graft campaign.
“I assure you that we are making progress in security as some displaced farmers are returning to their farms. We will continue to work very hard for our dear country,” he said.
In his welcome address, the Nigerian Ambassador to Togo, Joseph Iji, said the close to two million Nigerians in Togo were law-abiding and peaceful.
Iji drew attention to the inability of the Nigerian Mission in Lome to issue Nigerian passports, making applicants to go to Ghana or Benin Republic.

French World Cup glory costs China firm $9m
A Chinese kitchen appliance maker said Monday it has so far made refunds worth nine million dollars, fulfilling a costly pledge to reimburse customers if France won the World Cup.
Vatti, one of the French team’s sponsors, is coughing up after Didier Deschamps’ side beat Croatia 4-2 in the final in Moscow a fortnight ago.
According to Vatti’s latest figures, the Chinese firm has made refunds — either in cash or gift cards — of more than 62 million yuan.
And the cost to Vatti of the success of “Les Bleus” does not stop there, with a portion of refunds still outstanding.
The total payout over the marketing stunt will amount to nearly $12 million.
Vatti, founded in 1992, promised before the World Cup to refund customers who bought their “Championship Package” of selected products if France lifted the trophy.
Vatti stock dived as France made their way through the tournament, but the firm is publicly sanguine.
“The amount to repay could be very significant, but it was included in our annual budget. It will not have huge consequences on the company,” Wang Zhaozhao, a Vatti representative, previously told the China Securities Journal.

40 doctors sacked for helping protesters
Authorities in Nicaragua on Monday sacked 40 doctors for tending to those injured in recent protests, local media reported.
According to the report, the health ministry fired some 40 doctors and nurses at a hospital in Jinotepe in southern Nicaragua for political reasons and refused to pay them for July.
It said that there were reports of similar sackings in the country’s south.
A paediatrician told the online newspaper Confidencial that she was not ruling out the possibility of having been sacked for political reasons after she issued a statement sympathetic to those protesting against Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.
Earlier this week, there were reports the health ministry fired about 20 doctors from the Oscar Danilo Rosales public hospital in the western city Leon.
The Central American country has experienced unrest since the first anti-government protests erupted on April 18 in response to controversial social security reforms.
Human rights groups put the death toll as high as 448, while the government says it is only in the dozens.

Anike: Episode 7,8&9
Episode 7
Things were going smooth between
Olamilekan and I until one fateful day, he
was in 500l then, while I was in 200l.
My phone rang I checked the caller ID it
was an unknown number.
“Hello, please who I’m I speaking with?” I
asked.
“This is Jane on the line, now listen and
listen good. I don’t want to ever see you
with my boyfriend again….”
“Sorry I think there’s a mix up here, I can’t
date your boyfriend because I have mine, I
think you called the wrong person….”
“Wrong person? She laughed, are you not
Anike,200l microbiology student, you stay in
providence hostel”
I was shocked this person really knew me.
“This is the last time I will call to warn you,
the next time, I will send touts to spoil that
your beautiful face for you, you this little
boyfriend snatcher”.
I tried to calm herself down before
speaking.
“Please can I know the name of this
boyfriend of yours” I asked”
“You want to tell me you don’t know
Olamilekan right”
“Ola what?” i exclaimed and the line went
off.
If there’s anything I hated most, this is one
of them, to be caught up in a drama like
this. I picked my phone and dialed Tinuke’s
number.
“Hello where are you?” I asked
“I’m on my way to the hostel, hope all is
well, why are you sounding like this….
“I will tell you everything later, you won’t
meet me in the hostel, I’m going to
Olamilekan’s place.
“What’s going on Tinuke, you sound tensed”
“Yes I am, an insane girl just called me now
threatening me. She told me to stay away
from his boyfriend and guess who her
boyfriend is? Olamilekan, so apparently my
boo has a boo”
“What kind of a joke is that”
“Trust me she did not sound like someone
joking”
“Please, don’t jump into conclusions, just
hear his side of the story”
“OK, I’ll see you later”
I did not even bother to knock, I forced the
door open.
“Anike you scared me, what’s the matter”
He asked
“Who is Jane” and how did she get my
number?”
“Jane!”
“And don’t pretend as if you don’t know
who I’m talking about”
“You know what Anike, just calm down and
sit”
“Oh! You think I came all the way here to
sit, boyfriend you better start talking”
“The only Jane I know is just a friend, my
course mate”
“Your friend my foot. She threatened to
beat me up, if I don’t leave you and you
stand here telling me she’s just a friend!”
“I’m confused, how did she even get your
number in the first place?”
“Are you seriously asking me that dumb
question, its obvious she got the number
from you”
“Just take it easy baby, we’ll sort this out”
“You and who? Who is she to you”
“I already told you”
“Friends with benefits right”
“I beg your pardon!”
He was upset too, but he had to calm
down. “Anike trust me there’s nothing
between that girl and I” He moved towards
me to touch me.
“Please don’t, in fact stay away from me” I
picked my purse and dashed out of his
room.
★★★★
I knew Olamilekan would come to the
hostel, so I went straight to a restaurant
when I left his place.
I checked the time it’s 8pm already, visiting
time is over, so definitely Olamilekan would
have left the hostel by now.
I took a cab to the hostel, I checked for his
car at the parking space and it’s not there.
I was about entering into the gate of my
hostel when I heard my name and I froze
because I recognized the voice.
“Anike!” I turned and it was Olamilekan
standing in front of me.
“So you stayed out till this time just to avoid
me right? I purposely stay here by the gate
to confirm this, you thought I would have
left since it’s past visiting time, right? Good
night” he said and left.
Two weeks gone and we weren’t still
talking. Olamilekan did not call, I too
refused to call him, though I miss him.
Tinuke is pissed at the way I was handling
the issue. She gave me the piece of her
mind.
“Anike, I don’t know if you know how much
I love you, I love you like my own blood
sister. I’ve learnt so many good things from
you. You are smart, intelligent, beautiful
inside and out, caring, humble, honest,
straight forward. You are a friend anyone
would wished for and I’m grateful to God
for giving me the privilege of having
someone like you. Despite all this qualities
you have a ‘But’and a big one at that. Do
you know what that but is? You get angry
at the slightest provocation and you are
stubborn Anike, You and I know that this Jane or whatsoever she call herself is not dating
your boyfriend, it’s just a false accusations, you know that deep down in your heart, but instead of you to give him the chance
to explain himself, you shut him out
completely. You decided to punish him, for
what? You are really lucky to have that guy,
I know you two deserve each other but
good guys are few out there and you are
lucky to have one of them.
We ran into your boyfriend in school area
and you pretended not to see him. You
better fix your relationship problem before
it’s too late” she adviced.
By the time Tinuke was done talking, her
words hit me like a blow.
I thanked her and promised to make
amends.
I went to Olamilekan’s apartment. I met
Jude his friend
“Hi” I said
“Hi” Jude replied. I’ll be on my way
Olamilekan I’ll see you later” he said and
left. We were both alone in the room.
“I’m not going out with Jane, there’s
nothing between us”
“I know”
“So why did you make us go through all
these, when you know her accusations was
false”
“I was upset and angry”
“That girl wanted to date me and I said no,
so she decided to get back at me. You did
not even allow me explain myself, You
walked out of my room and told me to stay
away from you, that’s bad Anike, I can
never do that to you”
“I’m sorry for everything, I was just angry. I
hate dramas like this, I can’t start fighting a
girl because of a guy”
“So you can’t fight for us” Then you are the
dumbest girl on planet earth”
“Really! Do you just call me dumb?”
“Bitter truth, but that’s the fact”
I remained quiet.
“Anike I’m sorry about what Jane said to
you, I’ve put her in her place, trust me”
“I’m sorry too”
He hugged and kissed me. He later took me
out, that was how the fight ended.
Ever since that day we’ve been good. I had
a swelled time with him in school till he
graduated. He was a perfect boyfriend but
sadly we had to end things between us.
Olamilekan graduated and after NYSC he
travelled out of the country. One problem
he had is that he never had a say on his
life. His parents are the controlling type.
They planned everything for him without
consulting him first.
He travelled abroad to further his
education. We had to break up on the basis
of distance, we both know ourselves and
we know we can’t handle a long distance
relationship. Also he’s parent’s plans for
him is to stay abroad permanently, since
the whole family has relocated abroad.
The break up was not easy for me but with
Tinuke by my side, I moved on with my life.
He calls once in a while and we chat online
as well. We ended up as friends nothing
more.
Fortunately for Tinuke, she got admission
into a university in US to study medicine
that was 300 level second semester, I was
happy for her but at the same time I know
I’m not going to get over her leaving me
easily. It was a tough time for me, I
wondered why everyone I cared about left
me.
Olamilekan left, now Tinuke, I wept
uncontrollably. I tried to concentrate on my
exams.
I was glad we are going on end of section
break at least going home to my family
members we help me forget my runaway
friends. Little did I know that missing
Tinuke was the least of my problems.
Episode 8
I got back home, and I saw all my extended
family members sitting in our living room,
my mum was wearing black all through
same with my siblings.
“What’s going on here” I screamed. I looked
everywhere I didn’t see my dad. Where is
my daddy” I asked facing my mummy
whose eyes had turned red.
“Your daddy is dead Anike, we hid it from
you so that you can concentrate on your
exams” she wept and I hugged her, crying
bitterly, my siblings joined us, the wailing
was much and some family members came
to calm us.
My immediate younger sister, Adekemi
picked my traveling bag and I followed her
to my room.
“What happened, was he sick, accident or
what?” I asked her.
“ He left for his office in the morning, that
was three days ago, the next thing mummy
was called that he was dead. He didn’t
even make it to the hospital” she replied
me.
“Did the doctors carried out autopsy?”
“Yes they did, the results was out this
morning and it says he was poisoned”
“Poisoned!”
“They found some substances in the tea he
took in the morning”
“They should arrest his secretary!”
“Our uncle said the secretary did not make
tea for him that morning”
“Then who did?”
“Mummy made tea for him in the morning
before going to work”
“We all know mummy can’t poison daddy” I
gestured with my hands.
“Our uncles didn’t think that way o, they all
said mummy poisoned him”
“What! Are they all insane, this is
conspiracy”
“Real conspiracy and Uncle Friday is the ring
leader.
Uncle Friday is my father’s half brother and
only brother. After my father, he is the next
in command. My father so trusted him that
he entrusted his company in his hands.
Tomorrow is the burial, we are all waiting
for you to return”
“God if this is a dream I want to wake up” I
said and cried the more.
The next day, my daddy was buried in the
cemetery, Uncle Friday refused to let us
bury him in the house, we never knew he
had plans.
The next day after the burial the family
members arrived, Uncle Friday the ring
leader stood in the middle of the sitting
room to address everyone.
“As we all know that my brother was
poisoned by his wife….” I rushed up to him
and attacked him.
“You b—–d you killed my father and pinned
it on my mother. I will make sure I have
you arrested, you will rot in jail”
Some people rushed up to me and made
me sit beside my mum.
“Anike, what’s the meaning of that do you
want them to kill you too, just leave
them,please….”
Uncle Friday adjusted his clothes.
“As I was saying before that b—–d
interrupted me….”
“Friday you are a b—–d, you this animal in
human clothing” I shouted at him.
My mum and my sister held me down
again…”Anike! You think you can fight him,
let God fight for us o”
He adjusted it clothes again. “We are
supposed to press charges against her but I
let it slide, because who will take care of
her b—–d children if she’s in prison. So this
is our decision we give you seven days to
vacate this house with your children at least
we’ve tried enough”
“You are joking, my mummy spoke to him
for the first time. “Friday I don’t need to
exchange from you, you’ll hear from our
lawyer”
“Which lawyer? my friend sit down,
husband killer. He barked at my mum. The
lawyer will come tomorrow to read the will"
He said and adjourned the meeting.
The next day the will was read in favour of
Uncle Friday.
He said he wouldn’t give us a dime from
my father’s property because my mother
killed him.
He said in exchange of pressing charges,
he’ll let us go instead.
They all left and I asked my mummy where
the documents to all my father’s properties
were, but she knew nothing about it, even
the pin code to his ATM card, my mummy
knew nothing.
Speaking of ATM Uncle Friday has packed
everything, they already swept daddy’s
room clean.
“Your father is secretive he doesn’t tells me
anything, he believes once I and the kids
are OK, I don’t have to pry into his
business” she explained
Why will a husband not open up to his wife,
your wife should be your confidant for God
sake” I said to my self.
To make matters worse, my mum is a full
time house wife, my father did not allow
her to work. My mum is jobless, she only
had few money in her account. My father
drops cash for her everyday, so she never
thought of saving for the raining day.
True to my Uncle’s words we were ushered
out of our house, seven days later, we
moved in with one of mummy’s friend. My
mum got a lawyer and we took the case to
court, my mummy started spending her
little savings on legal fees.
She remembered I’ll be resuming school in
some weeks time and gave up.
School resumed, the only money my mum
could afford to give me is my school fees
and transport fare I dare not travel by air. I
joined a bus from Lagos to minna.
My younger ones who attended an
expensive private school couldn’t go back to
school, Even Adekemi who is in SSS3, that
needs to write WAEC couldn’t go back to
school. Mummy just enrolled her in a
tutorial for WAEC class for now.
With that we exhausted all the money my
mummy had on her.
I got back to school, luckily for me I got an
accommodation in the hostel, it’s a rare
opportunity, the school hardly gives 400l
students hostel because we are staying in
school for only one semester, we are going
for IT in 2nd semester. They only give 400l
students who has legs I mean connection,
and mine is just God’s favour. We were just
two in the room and that is how I met
Happy.
Happy is also in 400l, she’s tall, slim, fair
and beautiful. She smells money, I guess
she’s from a rich family and she has a car.
I really missed Tinuke, we talked earlier and
I explained everything to her. She wished
she was around.
Happy noticed I only moved into the hostel
with just my clothes, she sensed I’m not
financially buoyant, so she gave me access
to her food stuff. Since she owned the food
stuff, I started cooking for both of us and
she appreciated the fact that I cooked for
her.
One day she asked after my family and I
told her everything about me. Since the day
I opened up to her, she started giving me
money, which I used to buy handout, make
photocopies and all. She also bought me
some clothes, I later knew she had a
boutique off campus.
I noticed she doesn’t spend her weekends
in the hostel. She travels on Fridays and
come back on Monday morning.
My sister called me in the evening while I
was busy making dinner for myself and my
roommate.
She was crying on phone, Adekemi what is
it?” I asked
“Mummy’s friend has started giving us
attitude in the house, she has even stopped
giving us food, to eat is even difficult for us
now” she lamented.
“God will stand up for us and send help to
us in Jesus name, please don’t cry, you
need to be strong for mummy. You know I
can’t be with you for now, I had to be in
school” I pleaded with her.
I ended the call and called my mum.
I asked how they are faring and she lied to
me, she said things are OK. She asked me
how I was faring too and I told her about
my room mate who had been of great help
to me.
After the call, I wept, my mummy lied so as
not to get me worried.
Happy came back from lectures and met
me crying. I told her about the call I got
from home.
“Anike please stop crying and clean your
face” She said and I wiped my tears.
“Anike do you know what I like most about
you? You are not the nosey type, you don’t
pry into other people’s affairs and I really
like that about you. But I’ll open up to you
since you don’t ask questions. I’m into runs.
I was like it’s a lie, runs! how! Then I
remembered she never spend weekends in
the hostel, that explains everything.
Anike, I can help you and finance you till
you graduate. she continued. That is not a
problem, but Anike I can’t help your mum
and siblings that will be too much of a
burden for me but you can help them”
“How” my face lit up.
“For your person it’s not going to be easy
cos I know you are a church girl but it’s just
an offer, you can turn it down and mind
you, that will not stop me from helping you
till you graduate”
“It’s not about me alone Happy, my family
is suffering. I can’t be enjoying here in
school when they could hardly feed at
home not to talk of having a roof over their
head”
“Are you the first child”
“Yes”
“You have responsibilities then”
“How can I help my family?”
“I can introduce you to rich men, you can
get enough money from them to help you
take care of your family”
“I can’t do it, I can’t sell my body, I’m a
Christian, a child of God, Happy!”
“I’m not saying you should decide now, just
think about it”
“There’s nothing to think about, thanks you
for your help” I said sharply and left the
room.
Question: Anike is in state of dilemma right now, what would you advice her to do?
Episode 9
A week later, my sister called again and
told me my mummy’s friend threw
them out of the house, they now sleep
in a nearby church compound.
I knew we can’t continue like this, so I
made up my mind that if selling my
body will put smiles on my families face
once again and end this suffering, then
so be it.
I waited for Happy to come back from
her boutique, I did not even allow her
to rest before I bring up the issue.
“Happy I think I’m ready, my mum and
siblings are really suffering”
“Are you sure” she asked a and I told
her my mind is made up.
“I have one big offer for you” She said
and I listened with rapt attention.
There is this man I met in Abuja,
although I’ve known him for some time
now. His name is Admiral Gabriel
Alawode, A high rank Navy, he’s also a
Prince, I heard he’s father is a first class
king in south west. He’s divorced with
two kids, the kids lived abroad with
their mum. He is 52years, he doesn’t
want to remarry but he wants a young
girl to keep as a companion. Though he
travels a lot but he wants someone
around him whenever he’s in the
country.
“Why a young girl?”
“He doesn’t want anyone who will start
demanding marriage. He knows a young
girl won’t want marriage from him”
“Anike, Prince Alawode is wealthy. I
can’t date him, so I rejected the offer”
“Why?”
“I can’t stick to just one person, I don’t
want to be anyone’s property. I’ll feel
trapped especially with that his age. I
can still manage if he’s 40”
“Why do you want to introduce me to
this particular one and not the younger
ones”
She smiled. “Smart question. Like I said
earlier, you know you…(she gestured
with her hands) you are a good girl and
I know you won’t like to sleep around
with random men.
But with the money this man has, you’ll
be okay with him alone, he will take
care of you and all your responsibilities.
He doesn’t sleep around that’s why he
wants just one person who will be
committed to him alone”
“Hmm! I sighed heavily. I’m 22 Happy,
that man is same with my late father!”
“I know this is not easy to take in at
once, it’s not an easy decision to take
but this is the best offer for your kind of
person” she said
“I heard most of this men are ritualist,
you won’t want me to fall into the
hands of a ritualist, would you?”
“He’s not a ritualist Anike, he’s an Ad…
mi….ral, Anike. Admiral of the fleet…
the highest rank in Navy and he also
works hand in hand with the
government.
I heard highest ranked navy are highly
paid, their basic salary is #16million or
so, aside the salary they are still entitled
to some money, and they earns close to
#30million at the end of the month” she
explained. He’s into oil and gas too. He
has many filling stations across the
states. Aside that he also has one or two
political assignments with the federal
government. So I leave you to guess the
rest.
“Jesus! In this country? And they say
there is recession”
“Recession only affect the masses my
dear”
“Really, then recession can’t affect
people like that”
“Should I call him now?”
“No, not now, let me sleep over it”
“I understand, take your time” She said
patting my back.
That evening I replayed my discussion
with Happy. I’m no longer that slim 100
level Anike, Yes, I’ve added flesh in the
right places. I’ve grown up to be a
beautiful young woman with a shinning
dark skin, average height and a very
nice body structure that could get any
man’s attention. But I never dreamt of
using my precious body in exchange for
money. I remembered how beautiful my
life was before I lost my father and I
cried. I remembered my friend Tinuke, I
wanted to tell her about it, but I’m sure
she won’t like the idea.
I remembered my lost love too,
Olamilekan. And I wept, Olamilekan
can’t help me, Tinuke cant help me,
they are still depending on their
parents.
Happy is right, nobody can help my
family except I stand up to the task. It’s
time to grow up, I can no longer be that
Daddy’s little girl. It’s high time I
embrace reality.
The next day, I told Happy, I was ready
to take the offer.
“Good, you will thank me later Anike.
That I’m sure off”
“If you say so”. She brought out her
wallet and retrieved a business card
from it.
“I only have his office line, I don’t have
his personal line, but the call will be
directed to him” she said.
She called the office line and it was
picked by his secretary. She placed the
call on speaker.
“Hello, Admiral Gabriel Alawode’s
office how may I help you” the voice
said.
“I’d like to speak with Admiral
Alawode” She said feigning accent.
“Name please?”
“Happy, from Senator Nwannze his
friend”
“He’s not on sit, but I’ll forward the call
to his PA, just hold on for a some
minutes”
“Hello, this is the PA to Admiral Gabriel
Alawode, how may I help you?”
Happy repeated herself. “He’s on a call,
please hold on.
“Ok”
After some minutes we heard the PA’s
voice.
“He said he’ll call back” he said, then
the line went off.
“He’ll callback, maybe he’s still on call”
Happy said.
“So much protocol!” I said
“People like him are not easy to reach
except you have their personal line”
Some minutes later, he called back.
Happy picked it and placed the call on
speaker, so I could here their
conversation.
“Happy how are you” he said with a
rich baritone voice.
“I’m fine sir, I always trip at the sound
of your voice” she said teasingly. I like
that voice too,I must confess.
“Don’t flatter me, hope you’ve agreed to
my offer, I believe that’s the reason you
call”
“Sir, I have two news”
“Let’s hear it” he said
“Like I said earlier I’m not interested
and I’m very sorry for turning you
down. I’m elated that you could think of
me for such offer, but I can’t”
“No problem, I respect your opinion. So
what’s the other news?”
“I got you someone”
“Happy don’t worry, you don’t have to
do that. It’s you I want, since you are
not in, then its fine”
“You’ll like her, I promise”
“I don’t want just anybody”
“She’s not just anybody, just meet her
first, then you can decide if you want
her or not”
“Happy you know girls and their saucy
behavior, I don’t want a girl that will
give me high blood pressure or those
who will expose my private life to the
world. You know I’m not a fan of
Paparazzi”
“Admiral Alawode….I’m not just giving
you any girl, she keeps her private life
private. She’s not a runs girl, she’s
doing this because of financial
problems”
“Really, I hope she won’t misbehave
later, when she had everything she
wanted”
“I promise you she won’t fall my hand”
“Fine, bring her to Abuja on Friday. I’ll
send a driver to pick you up at the
airport”
“No I can’t come with her, I have plans
for Friday sir”
“You! Those are the people who made
you reject my offer right, don’t worry go
and meet them”
She laughed because the man was right.
“Just send your address, she’ll find her
way”
“That not necessary, I’ll book her flight,
the driver will be waiting for her at the
airport when she arrived”
“Nice, it’s ok then”
“Send me your account details, I’ll send
some money for both of you”
“Thank you sir, see you when I see you
bye”
“Good bye, thanks so much”
“You are welcome bye” she said and
hung up.
“You heard everything right, once he
send the money, you’ll go for shopping,
visit the spa, fix your hair, do your
pedicure and manicure. You just have
to look great, you must impress him”
She said with a wide smile plastered on
her face.
“I’m scared”
“Don’t be, trust me you are in good
hands”.
Question: Has Anike done the right thing by taking this decision, do you see her surviving? Share your thoughts!

*IMPREGNATE ME OR I DIE**Part Five*
I was very optimistic and calculative. I saw my period last on the 16th of July, this is 2nd September, I didn't need any test to know I was pregnant with the changes in my body. I started acting drama for my husband. He gradually does everything in the house without complaining, "my dear just sleep and I will do everything for you", that became Omeiza's slogan. But he was bent on taking me to the hospital for a test. After mounting pressure on me? I succumbed just for him to let me be. I took my birth that morning and got to the hospital early just to please my husband and clear his doubt about my condition. I was number four on the queue waiting to be attended to. All the three women ahead of me came out of the laboratory with a smile and a white envelope in their hands. An elder cleaner and a staff of the hospital positioned herself by the entrance to the hospital laboratory who will always smile at women coming out of the maternity laboratory with a congratulatory greetings. 'Congratulations madam", she repeated to the first three women who went in before me as they came out smiling.
It was my turn to go in, I had planned within me how I will change my steps when coming out with my white envelope. I love the old woman and I planned to hug her when she will be telling me "congratulations madam". All the three women who went in before me spent between fifteen to twenty minutes and they were out. Forty minutes after I entered, the lab technician was yet to give me my result. I saw him going over the same process again and I knew something was wrong. Just a minute madam, he requested like three times. I became unnecessarily agitated and worried. Why is my own test taken so long? Has he discovered something else different from pregnancy in the test? What could be wrong? I thought of many things including being HIV positive. Even if I was HIV positive it must be from a different source and not sex.
He finally handed over the envelope to me but mine was a brown envelope. All those who had come out before me were given white envelope, why is mine brown? I queried my mind. I was expecting him to say something but he handed over the envelope to me and continued his work as if I was no longer in the lab. I waited for about two minutes, expecting him to say something but he said nothing. Oga what is in the result? I asked him. He was not polite at all when he told me "madam the result is negative". I quickly asked meaning what? As if I don't understand what he meant. 'Madam you are not pregnant', he said carelessly. My whole body system changed immediately. Is this man sane? Is he a professional at all? 'How can you tell me I am not pregnant after missing my period for more than twenty days. I have been having unprotected sex more than a month now. This can't be true, I will go elsewhere to redo this test.' I replied angrily. As I was about carrying my handbag I remembered the old cleaner at the reception and how I will face her with my brown envelope. I quickly squeezed the envelope into my bag.
When I opened the door of the lab my legs were missing target as all other women seated turned at me with the old woman looking already pitiful. I felt like entering the ground that day, nobody told me congratulations like other women who came in before me. I looked at the old woman and tears dropped down my cheeks. She held me and whispered to me, "God will do it". I quickly rushed out of the scene to avoid more pity from the waiting women.
On my way to another clinic to prove the test wrong I felt a wetness in my pant. I stylishly put in my hand, it was blood, my menses just came. I told the taxi driver I wanted to drop, madam you no dey go Felele again? He asked. No I'm not going again, I changed my mind. He dropped me and I gave him N200 without asking for my change. When I dropped I went to I nearby shop and cried my life out. What will I tell my husband who is waiting for the good news? How do I explain my behavioural change and dramas? I felt like committing suicide that moment. While I was lost in thought my phone rang, it was my husband. Hello sweet heart, how did it go, are you through in the hospital, have you done the test? What is the result of the test? I didn't know which of his questions to answer. I will be home soon, I replied and ended the call.
Between ten minutes, series of questions and thoughts had overwhelmed me. Why and how can Sally who is a well known sinner be pregnant before her wedding and me who have been serving God faithfully to the best of my knowledge is made to go through this? I kept myself, Sally wasted herself yet Jacob's blessing is given to Esau and Esau's blessing given to Jacob. What have I done wrong? What is my offence? What did Sally do right that I didn't do?

Stop re-election campaigns, Buhari begs supporters
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, urged his supporters across the country to halt their current campaigns for his re-election.
He said such activities at this time could amount to jumping the gun since the Independent National Electoral Commission had a timetable for the electoral process.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in a statement made available to journalists.
Buhari said he appreciated his supporters’ enthusiasm which he said was borne out of their desire to garner support for an administration that was actuated by nothing, other than service for motherland.
The statement read, “It has been observed that some fervent supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari have begun what may be interpreted as political campaigns in their advocacies and advertisements in the mass media.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission has a timetable for political campaigns, and we urge committed supporters round the country (and beyond) to be mindful of such.
“There will be ample time ahead to trumpet the good works of the Buhari administration, and solicit re-election, all for the good of our country and her people.
“While a chronicle of the achievements of the administration is in order now, outright canvassing may amount to jumping the gun. We are an administration committed to due process and scrupulous respect for rules, law and order.
“We appreciate our massive supporters nationwide, and urge them to exercise restraint till the race commences officially as stipulated by law.”
